TOMB RAIDER I-III REMASTERED RECEIVES FIRST CHALLENGE MODE PATCH
[ 31 March 2026 ]
Aspyr Media has released the first Challenge Mode patch for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, now available across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile platforms, with a version for Nintendo Switch 2 to follow. The update addresses a range of high-priority issues identified by the community, with a particular emphasis on graphical improvements and general stability.
Among the most notable changes are corrections to low-resolution textures and clipping on newly introduced outfits, alongside fixes to Lara Croft's braid physics, which previously caused visual inconsistencies in Photo Mode. Texture mismatches have also been addressed, with further reports encouraged should issues persist.
Gameplay adjustments form a significant portion of the update, resolving several inconsistencies affecting progression and mechanics. Ammunition counts now display correctly and are no longer duplicated when accessed via the pause menu, while modifier Challenge Ratings have been corrected. Unlock conditions for the 'Speed Demon' challenges now function as intended, and environmental hazards such as laser beams in specific levels once again behave as expected. Audio refinements have also been implemented, including the prevention of overlapping music at the start of levels and the elimination of simultaneous sound effect stacking when collecting items.
Additional fixes have been applied to specific platforms. On PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, subtitle synchronisation issues have been resolved, ensuring dialogue text aligns properly with voiceover and does not linger on screen. Mobile platforms receive further gameplay corrections, including restored functionality for certain weapon modifiers, access to previously unreachable bonus content, and the reinstatement of achievement tracking on iOS devices.
Alongside this release, Aspyr has confirmed that work is already underway on a second Challenge Mode patch for all platforms. This forthcoming update will focus on broader technical concerns, including game crashes, save data issues, artificial intelligence behaviour, and inventory-related bugs. A separate announcement regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the current patch is also expected in due course, as the developer continues to respond to community feedback and refine the remastered collection.
