TOMB RAIDER I-III REMASTERED CHALLENGE MODE UPDATE PATCH NOTES
[ 12 March 2026 ]
Aspyr Media has released a free update for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, introducing the highly anticipated Challenge Mode. Players can now access this new mode directly from the Main Menu of each title, allowing Lara Croft to revisit classic levels with fresh objectives and tailored gameplay. Patch notes for the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Challenge Mode content update can be found on the official Aspyr Media website.
Challenge Mode offers a comprehensive suite of customisation options, including adjustments to Lara's health and regeneration, enemy numbers, health and damage, equipment loadouts, and even additional weapons. Modifiers can be combined to alter the challenge rating of each level, providing unique rewards and achievements for those who master the tougher settings. For those seeking a straightforward experience, Challenge Mode can also function as a level selector without applying any modifiers.
The update further expands the game's content with a collection of unlockable outfits, each granting unique bonuses exclusively within Challenge Mode. Players can access these outfits through the Extras menu, with designs ranging from the Paragon of Peace to the Atlantean Bio-Armour, each offering distinct effects to enhance gameplay.
Additionally, the update introduces fifteen new achievements and trophies, designed to reward players who complete levels under increasingly demanding conditions. To complement these new features, the save and checkpoint system has been refined, ensuring that Challenge Mode progress is clearly identifiable with a skull icon while functioning identically to regular saves.
Beyond the new content, the patch delivers a series of optimisations and bug fixes across all platforms. Collider issues have been resolved, achievement triggers adjusted, and platform-specific improvements implemented. On Xbox, button binding functionality has been corrected, while Steam users will find enhancements in Photomode and classic mode level displays. Mobile players benefit from optimised menus and newly integrated touch controls, providing a smoother experience for on-the-go adventuring.
