LARA CROFT GO CELEBRATES TEN YEARS SINCE RELEASE ON ANDROID AND iOS

Today marks ten years since the release of Lara Croft GO on Android, iOS, and Windows. Developed by Square Enix Montreal and published by Square Enix, the turn-based puzzle adventure cast players as the iconic Tomb Raider as she explored the ancient ruins of a long-forgotten civilisation.

Over the span of five chapters, players helped Lara fight menacing enemies, overcome dangerous obstacles and traps, and ultimately uncover the myth of the Queen of Venom. Along the way, they could collect ancient relics hidden throughout the game world to unlock additional features and costumes designed to appeal to long-standing fans.

Inspired by the classic Tomb Raider games, Lara Croft GO featured a distinct art design and a captivating soundtrack that sparked the player's inner relic hunter as they tackled more than 75 challenging puzzles in Lara's quest to survive the deadly mysteries that awaited.

The first major expansion, The Shard of Life, was introduced in November 2015. It added 26 new puzzles set in the Cave of Fire, alongside fresh gameplay elements including cursed monsters, collectible artefacts and gemstones, and additional costumes. To mark its release, Square Enix Montreal hosted a Twitch Plays event, allowing fans to collaborate online to complete stages from the original game and unveil the new content together.

A further update, Mirror of Spirits, was released in April 2017 across iOS, Android, and Windows. Developed in collaboration with Montreal-based indie studio KO_OP, the chapter introduced new mechanics and puzzles within a setting inspired by Croft Manor. These expansions continued to build on Lara Croft GO's reputation as a distinctive, atmospheric entry in the franchise, extending the puzzle-based experience for both long-standing fans and newcomers alike.

Today, Lara Croft GO is maintained by Deca Live Operations, and our Tomb Raider Buyer's Guide includes links to download the game on your platform of choice.
