HAYLEY ATWELL ON PLAYING LARA CROFT IN TOMB RAIDER ANIME

Hayley Atwell has spoken about her role as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider anime from Netflix during an interview about her latest film, Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning. The interview was hosted by The Movie Dweeb and posted on YouTube.

"The scripts are fantastic." Hayley Atwell told The Movie Dweeb. "I've seen parts of the animation and when I'm doing it we're in a booth, often in sweat-pants which is great because you don't have to do glam but also don't have to do all the physical things Lara does. You just have to grunt along in a sort of soundscape. Lots of breathing, leaving the session slightly hyper-ventilated."

"It's really poignant and funny and light and I've loved doing it. I think the thing they get so well is that they really understand the tone of it. They are pushing it forward into what the fans want but also a natural progression of where it could go next. I love it."

The Tomb Raider anime is being produced by Netflix, Legendary, Tasha Huo and Dmitri M. Johnson's dj2 Entertainment. Actress Hayley Atwell will voice British archaeologist Lara Croft with Earl Baylon and Allen Maldonado onboard as Jonah Maiava and Zip. Richard Armitage has also joined the cast and will voice a character called Devereaux alongside Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa as Eshu.
