TOMB RAIDER SOCIAL UPDATED TO MASTODON 4.5.0
[ 10 November 2025 ]
Tomb Raider Social has been updated to Mastodon 4.5.0. The new release introduces a series of technical refinements and administrative enhancements designed to improve conversation flow, moderation, and user experience across the platform. Central among these is the introduction of quote posts, allowing users to reference others' messages while maintaining control over their content. Authors can limit quoting globally or on individual posts and revoke usage at any time, providing a balance between discourse and privacy.
Mastodon 4.5 also addresses continuity of discussion by automatically fetching missing replies from other servers upon page load and at regular intervals, reducing fragmentation in cross-server conversations. These improvements aim to ensure that threads remain coherent, even across the wider federated network. Native emoji support has also been integrated into the web interface, giving users greater flexibility in visual communication.
For server administrators, the update brings enhanced management capabilities. Operators can now customise content feeds for visitors or logged-in users, designate the local feed as the visitor homepage, and apply targeted blocking with options for partial matches or moderator review. Additionally, the moderation interface has been improved to provide context for decisions, including link previews and quoted content, facilitating more informed oversight of server activity.
Tomb Raider Social is built on Mastodon, a decentralised, open-source platform that lets users run independent servers with their own rules and communities. Designed for fans of the Tomb Raider series, it serves as a hub for discussion, creativity, and content sharing. Unlike conventional social media, Mastodon prioritises user autonomy, privacy, and community moderation, offering a chronological, ad-free experience without algorithmic interference.
