SHADOW OF THE TOMB RAIDER DRIVES STRONG BACK CATALOGUE SALES FOR EMBRACER GROUP
[ 12 February 2026 ]
Embracer Group reported net sales of SEK 5.2 billion in the third quarter, alongside an adjusted EBIT of SEK 528 million and EBITDAC of SEK 410 million, reflecting a marked improvement over the first and second quarters and exceeding internal expectations. The results were underpinned by a robust holiday season across the group's key intellectual properties, including Kingdom Come Deliverance. Following the completed spin-off of Coffee Stain Group, Embracer is now wholly focused on consolidating its core IP portfolio, enhancing capital allocation discipline, and delivering sustainable free cash flow.
Back catalogue titles, including platform agreements, generated SEK 1,302 million in revenue during the quarter, representing a 10 per cent year-on-year decline. Nevertheless, several longstanding franchises continued to perform strongly. Among the top five drivers of back catalogue sales were Kingdom Come Deliverance II, Dead Island 2, Killing Floor 3, MX vs. ATV Legends and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Kingdom Come Deliverance II notably exceeded expectations, supported by the release of its third expansion, Mysteria Ecclesiae, and subsequently achieving the milestone of five million copies sold within its first year.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the concluding chapter of the Survivor Trilogy, remained a prominent contributor to the group's back catalogue performance. The title follows Lara Croft as she navigates vast, intricately designed environments, exploring the largest tombs in the series to date, uncovering hidden relics, and confronting formidable adversaries. Central to the narrative is Lara's effort to prevent a Mayan apocalypse, a trial that cements her transformation into the iconic Tomb Raider figure.
The strength of Embracer's back catalogue, exemplified by Shadow of the Tomb Raider and other flagship titles, highlights the long-term value embedded in its portfolio. By leveraging both legacy and contemporary IPs, the group continues to generate meaningful revenue streams, complementing its ongoing investment in new releases and reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth and an IP-first portfolio.
