PHOEBE WALLER-BRIDGE PRESENTS TOMB RAIDER SERIES AT AMAZON UK UPFRONT

Amazon presented a first look at its upcoming Tomb Raider television series during the 2026 Amazon UK Upfront event at The Outernet in London. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner, appeared on stage to discuss the Prime Video production, which stars Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. Amazon described the series as a new interpretation of the Tomb Raider character.

The Tomb Raider presentation formed part of Amazon's announcements concerning its upcoming Prime Video programming. Other productions featured at the event included the second series of Young Sherlock, the Manchester-set crime drama Dirty and the return of The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power on 11 November. Amazon also reported that it had invested more than £5 billion in the UK across television, film, live sport, skills and production.

The event included announcements concerning Prime Video's advertising operations, including its planned integration with Barb CFlight, the UK's television advertising measurement framework, in 2027. Amazon Ads also introduced geographic advertising tools and location-based interactive video advertisements. Amazon's announcement did not provide a release date for the Tomb Raider television series.

Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics announced the development of the live-action Tomb Raider television series in May 2024. Principal photography began in January 2026. Sophie Turner stars as Lara Croft, a British archaeologist and adventurer. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson. The series is based on the Tomb Raider video game franchise.
