AMAZON PRIME VIDEO TO FILM TOMB RAIDER LIVE-ACTION SERIES IN GIRONA
[ 29 May 2026 ]
Amazon Prime Video will film scenes for its new Tomb Raider television series in Girona's Barri Vell, in the centre of Girona, Catalonia, northeastern Spain, according to Radio Girona SER Catalunya. Filming is scheduled to begin on Friday and continue over the following days at several locations across the Old Town. Local media reports stated that technical preparations and traffic restrictions in the area are linked to the filming. Members of the cast and crew are expected to remain in the city during June.
Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics confirmed development of the live-action Tomb Raider series in May 2024. Principal photography began in January 2026. Sophie Turner plays Lara Croft, the British archaeologist and adventurer, alongside a cast that includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, and Bill Paterson. The series is based on the Tomb Raider video game franchise.
The production is a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics. Executive producers include Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins for Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson for Story Kitchen, and Michael Scheel for Legendary Television.
