CRYSTAL DYNAMICS ANNOUNCES WORKFORCE REDUCTION, PROJECTS UNAFFECTED
[ 26 March 2025 ]
Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics has announced a workforce reduction affecting 17 employees, citing the need to align with current business priorities and ensure the studio's long-term success. Despite this restructuring, Crystal Dynamics has reaffirmed its commitment to game development, assuring that ongoing projects remain unaffected. The announcement was shared on Crystal Dynamics' official X page.
This morning, Crystal Dynamics made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce by 17 talented team members. We did not make this decision lightly. Ultimately, this step was necessary to better align our current business needs and the studio's future success. It is not a reflection of the dedication or ability of those affected.
We recognise how painful this outcome is for those impacted and we are supporting them with transition packages and opportunity outreach. Crystal Dynamics remains committed to pushing the boundaries of making great games. This change does not alter our current project plans.
Crystal Dynamics is currently developing a new multi-platform Tomb Raider title powered by Unreal Engine 5, with Amazon Game Studios providing full support and handling global publishing. This as-yet-untitled game is a single-player, narrative-driven adventure that continues Lara Croft's story in the Tomb Raider series.
