TOMB RAIDER GAME ASSETS COULD EXPEDITE TV SHOW

Dmitri Johnson and Michael Goldberg have spoken about adopting a transmedia strategy across film, TV, video-games, publishing, live activations, and consumer products during a panel organised by SXSW. Dmitri Johnson's credits include Tomb Raider, both animated and live action, and his proposition is to speed up live action production by repurposing video-game assets.

"There's a franchise we're working on that I can't get too deep into where we are trying to do animation, live action film, live action TV, a trilogy of games that are being built in Unreal 5 and looking at if there's a way to use assets that are being created on the games side to maybe help expedite things on the live action production side." Dmitri Johnson said during the SXSW panel.

Dmitri Johnson's dj2 Entertainment is working alongside Legendary and Tasha Huo in producing Tomb Raider The Legend of Lara Croft, an upcoming Tomb Raider anime streaming exclusively on Netflix, and is also reportedly attached to a new Amazon-fronted Tomb Raider film and TV show written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Crystal Dynamics is currently producing a new multi-platform Tomb Raider title powered by Unreal Engine 5, with Amazon Games providing full support and publishing the game globally. The as-yet-untitled new Tomb Raider game is a single-player, narrative-driven adventure that continues Lara Croft's story in the Tomb Raider series.
