UNREAL ENGINE WILL SHAPE THE FUTURE OF TOMB RAIDER

Simon Tourangeau, Vice President of Engineering, Unreal Engine, has outlined the feature set coming to Unreal Engine 5.4 during State of Unreal, a showcase presentation from Epic Games at Game Developers Conference 2024. Key highlights include local fog volumes, Niagara lightweight emitters, Lumen, Shadows and Ray Tracing, variable rate shading for Nanite, improved instance culling and improved parallelism in the renderer.

Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics is producing a new multi-platform Tomb Raider title powered by Unreal Engine 5, with Amazon Games providing full support and publishing the game globally. Epic Games used State of Unreal to showcase the future of Unreal Engine and the improvements the development team have made to the platform that, by extension, will shape the future of Tomb Raider.

The as-yet-untitled new Tomb Raider game is a single-player, narrative-driven adventure that continues Lara Croft's story in the Tomb Raider series.
