EMBRACER GROUP ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING SUMMARY
[ 21 September 2022 ]
Summary of resolutions passed during Embracer Group's Annual General Meeting can be found on the official Embracer Group web site. The Annual General Meeting was broadcast live earlier today and included a selected deep dive with CEO Lars Wingefors and CFO Johan Ekstrom.
On transmedia strategic direction, CEO Lars Wingefors stated: "I would like to start with the updated strategy we set at the last annual meeting a year ago embracing the transmedia strategic directions since September 2021. We started off by acquiring our first MMO business followed by the transformative acquisition of the leading board-game company in the world, asmodee."
Lars continued: "Followed by the acquisition of one of the largest comic-book publishers in North America, Dark Horse. Followed this year by the acquisition of assets from Square Enix of Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal including the iconic IPs of Tomb Raider, Deus EX and a number of others that are well positioned in this transmedia strategy."
On why Embracer Group adopted this strategy, Lars stated: "We believe it's building IP value, more character and personality for the world deepens the relationship with fans. Fans are everything. Tabletop games, comic books and films are very efficient channels to build IPs while we believe gaming is the best channel to monetise it."
Embracer Group recently announced the completion of the acquisition of development studios Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal, Square Enix Montreal, and a catalog of IPs including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain and more than 50 back-catalog games from Square Enix.
