Pakistan
authorities have issued a statement addressing
press
reports that government officials had halted
shooting of A Mighty Heart because the crew had
not obtained permission to film scenes in Islamabad
and Karachi.
"The
government has not opposed the movie but formal
permission is required to avoid security problems,"
said interior secretary of Sindh provincial government
Ghulam Mohammad Mohtaram.
"They
did not follow the proper procedure and it could
have caused security problems. Once they get the
authorisation we will provide them proper security,"
he concluded.
A Mighty
Heart stars Academy Award winner Angelina
Jolie who plays Mariane Pearl, a wife who
embarks on a frantic search to locate her journalist
husband, Daniel, when he goes missing in Pakistan.
