Pint-sized Australian play-thing Kylie Minogue has retained her crown as the world’s sexiest woman according to a new poll published by HEAT magazine. The ex-neighbours star fought off stiff competition from Jennifer Lopez, Jesse Wallace and Britney Spears who were awarded second to forth place respectively.

Cream of this year’s male crop was ex-take-that-turned-pop-icon Robbie Williams, sitting comfortably on top of Manchester United star David Beckham and Hollywood superstar Brad Pit. Notable new entries included gay Big Brother winner Brian Dowling and recently divorced Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

Surprising entries included Jessie Wallace, who plays man-eating siren Kat Slater in Eastenders, a British soap set around the suburbs of London. Jessie Wallace also captured most popular newcomer at last years National Television Awards in October. "Jessie has wowed everyone with her powerful and honest performances. She is on TV four times a week so men feel they know her through her sexy character. It looks like she is on her way to becoming the new Martine McCutcheon." said Heat's deputy editor, Julian Linley.

Former top five winner Angelina Jolie, who pulled on rubber hot-pants and pistols in summer 2001's Paramount Pictures videogame adaptation Tomb Raider, only managed 9th place, with Rachel Stevens and Kate Moss coming up the rear.
