Paramount Pictures video-game adaptation Lara Croft Tomb Raider ($131m) snatches thirteenth place in AC Nielsen's top grossing $100 million or more movies of 2001, tailing somewhat behind Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone ($286m), Shrek (£267m) and Monsters Inc. ($236m) who tally the top three places respectively.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider chronicles the adventures of British aristocrat Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) who embarks on a mystical search for the Triangle of Light before it falls into the clutches of the Illuminati, a secret society bent on world domination and orchestrated by James Bond contender Iain Glen.

Oscar winner Angelina Jolie, currently filming the Martin Campbell helmed refugee drama Beyond Borders with Clive Owen, confirmed she will resurrect the role of Lara Croft for Paramountís Tomb Raider sequel, sure to send a second charge across the Paramount cash register despite rancid reviews from critics more than a little disappointed with the original.
