To herald
the centenary of Walt Disney, the Taiwan Cellular
Corp. has launched its Disney prepaid collectible
card series that features an all-girl line-up
of famous Disney characters. Among those included
in the series are Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping
Beauty, the Little Mermaid and Jasmine from Aladdin.
The Disney
characters appear on the recharge card so it can
be kept, said Taiwan Cellular spokesperson Chu
Fang-ying. Recharge cards provide a PIN number
that allows users to add value to their account.
The prepaid card, which gives first-time users
an account and mobile phone number, has an IC
chip that they need to take off - an act that
may destroy the design of the card had there been
printed figures, Chu said.
Chu said
the Disney collectible series, launched on the
eve of the media giant's 100th anniversary, is
the latest in which Taiwan Cellular have used
famous movie characters on its prepaid card. The
company have used characters from Star Wars, Sakura
Momoko and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider on its prepaid
cards before. "This adds value to a card because
it not only allows users to add minutes to their
account but also allows them to collect it," Chu
said.
Users
who get a prepaid card and use it by Jan. 31 will
also participate in a raffle-drawing contest.
Prizes include a trip to the Tokyo Disneyland,
the Danger with Moschino diamonds and Ericsson
T68 handsets. Ericsson also used Paramount Pictures
Tomb Raider motion picture as a vehicle to launch
its new Blue Tooth headset and local proximity
communications devices earler this year.
