Bitstream Inc. and Sports Interactive Ltd. announced today that Sports Interactive has signed a three-year agreement to license Bitstream's T2K font engine and a core set of Bitstream fonts for Sports Interactive's sports simulation programs.

Sports Interactive is the creator of the cutting-edge Championship Manager series of football (soccer) management simulations published by London-based Eidos Interactive, which boasts unrivalled player and team statistics. The latest release in the series, Championship Manager: Season 01/02, is the fastest selling UK PC game in history, having sold over 103,000 copies in the first weekend alone (source: ChartTrack). It is also the fastest selling game on any format for a UK developer. The previous record was set by an earlier version, Championship Manager 3, which recorded sales of 70,000 units during its first weekend of release in 1999.

Bitstream's T2K is a high-performance font engine that is well suited for interactive applications. It provides high-quality rendering in any format, and is suitable for virtually any device, from the smallest embedded systems to the largest multi-threaded systems. T2K offers superior quality and speed, small code size and font compression, as well as support for industry-standard font formats. In addition, T2K is easily scalable to Font Fusion(TM), Bitstream's premier font rendering engine.

"We are very excited that Sports Interactive has not only implemented T2K but re-signed a long-term contract with us," said Anna Chagnon, President of Bitstream. "As the market for interactive services continues to grow, text legibility is a must. Bitstream's premier font rendering technologies like T2K and Font Fusion will play a key role in the rapid acceptance of interactive applications such as those developed by Sports Interactive, assuring the level of readability that customers demand."

Miles Jacobson, Managing Director of Sports Interactive said, "Bitstream's T2K font engine is the perfect technology for us to use in future editions of the Championship Manager series. We look forward to building a long and mutually rewarding relationship with Bitstream."
