A Gun-toting
cyber-star is hardly the kind of character you
would expect to crop up in the legendary tale
of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. But a production
of the magical story by Touchwood Productions
Musical Company features an appearance by actress
Ashleigh Jones as an intrepid Lara Croft-style
figure.
Her role
as principal girl Pollyanna Jones alongside her
father Professor Indiana Jones joins a host of
40 characters in the fun show, which even includes
a pantomime camel. The production of Ali Baba
and the Forty Thieves, to be staged at the Athenaeum,
Plymouth, from November 27 to December 1, tells
the tale of good-hearted Ali Baba and his evil
brother Kasim, and the discovery of a secret stash
of treasure.
Comic
roles come in the many faces of Olive, dim-witted
duo Bubble and Shriek, and ageing belly dancer
Vanilla and Delight. The shows start at 7.30pm
with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Younger children
will also get the chance to join an on-stage sing-a-long
with Ali Baba. Tickets are available from the
Touchwood box office on 01752 223403.
