Former Oscar winner Angelina Jolie has warned producers that the screenplay for Paramount Pictures Tomb Raider sequel must be better than the original for her to resume her role as Core Designs intrepid adventurer Lara Croft.

According to British newspaper The Mirror, a source close to the Jolie camp said the Girl Interrupted star - married to Hollywood mogul Billy Bob Thornton - was unhappy with the original cut and threatened to boycott a sequel if the new screenplay faired no better. "Angelina knows the script wasn't great and she's told the producers that it's got to be a lot better this time. If she's not happy with it, they'll have to look for another actress. She won't do it."

Although panned by critics, Lara Croft Tomb Raider breached the Paramount summit during the summer raking in over $230m in worldwide ticket sales, thanks largely to a huge Tomb Raider fan base and a series of strategic advertising alliances with Land Rover, Pepsi and Swedish mobile phone giant Ericsson.
