A deadly
new adversary has struck at all the principal
nations, paralyzing the world. The world's allied
forces immediately call for a global summit, merging
their weapons resources and technologies into
a clandestine project entitled Operation Phoenix.
The first
console release of Core's classic arcade style
action-shooter accompanied the launch of Sega's
Mega-CD hardware in 1993. Shooting straight to
the top of the charts, the title was an resounding
success and lead to the release and critical acclaim
of subsequent Saturn and PlayStation versions
during 1995.
Thunderhawk:
Operation Phoenix now harnesses the power of next-generation
technology, immersing the player in an ultra-realistic
action extravaganza. Equipped with state-of-the-art
weaponry and guidance systems, the Thunderhawk
gunship features an immediately accessible 'pick-up-and-play'
control system to offer instant satisfaction.
Speed and detail take the gaming experience to
an exhilarating dimension and brand new play mechanics
mirror the advanced technology this title exploits.
The gunship
is equipped with the latest in weapons technology
(attack & defence) including a Gun-Ship Sniper,
Night Vision and Guided Missiles. Simulated AWACS
(airborne warning and control system) also feature,
providing the player with realtime tactical updates.
Levels of additional support include Infantry,
Tank Battalions and Air Units, all of which add
to a realistic and fast-paced battlefield experience.
With
full 3D and logistical freedom, action is based
on military manouevres ranging from full-scale
war campaigns to self-contained missions. Bonus
missions are available after success in a given
campaign or key-mission. Options also exist to
steal or salvage enemy weapons and/or technologies
to upgrade the power and efficiency of the Phoenix
and its support units.
