With an Oscar under his belt, a new hit film and an album on the horizon, Billy Bob Thornton has told The Sunday Times he draws his strength from the spellbinding energy of Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie.

Both sport strange indentations tattooed onto their arms signifying a secret pact the two celebrities share. "It's just a symbol," he says. "It means something to us, but nobody else must know or it breaks the spell. She's got the same one. We give each other secret gifts all the time."

The quirky couple recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary by purchasing two burial plots, side by side, in Alpine Arkansas. Both wear vials of blood around their necks and Thornton consummated their first year together by painting a picture with hers. "Angelina and I are known for being insane," concedes 46-year-old Thornton. "But we are not, really..."
