Microsoft Corp have announced their upcoming XBOX games console will include a ESRB rated parental control system which will allow parents to restrict access to violent or inappropriate video-game content.

The Interactive Digital Software Association created the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) in September, 1994, as a non-profit organization aimed at developing a comprehensive rating system for computer and video games. Many of the industries top video-game publishers now embrace the initiative designed to help parents decide which games are right for their homes.

Sony’s Playstation 2 is the only other console currently on sale to feature a built-in ESRB rated control system, although this only screens the content of DVD movies and does not extend its protection to videogames.
