SHADOW OF THE TOMB RAIDER MARKS EIGHT YEARS SINCE EARLY ACCESS RELEASE
[ 12 September 2026 ]
Today marks eight years since Shadow of the Tomb Raider was first made available to players who pre-ordered selected editions of the game, two days before its worldwide release on 14 September 2018. The third and final entry in the Survivor Trilogy was developed by Eidos-Montreal in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider follows Lara Croft as she travels through Mexico and Peru while attempting to prevent a Mayan apocalypse that she inadvertently sets in motion. The game features exploration, combat and puzzle-solving, with players able to explore tombs, locate relics and other collectables, and encounter hostile groups and wildlife.
The story continues Lara's development following the events of Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider, concluding the narrative established across the three games.
To mark the anniversary, a selection of material from Shadow of the Tomb Raider is available, including assets provided by Crystal Dynamics and content previously released as part of the Tomb Raider 25th anniversary programme.
