TOMB RAIDER TELEVISION PRODUCTION BREACHED UK HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS

The production company behind Amazon MGM Studios' live-action Tomb Raider television series breached UK health and safety regulations during work at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire, according to an exclusive report by Deadline. The findings relate to health and safety measures in place during production of the series earlier in 2026.
Deadline reports that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found Project Temple Productions Ltd had breached requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002. The findings concerned the spraying of isocyanate paints, with the HSE determining that the company had failed to ensure crew members underwent biological monitoring to assess whether exposure controls were adequate.
The HSE issued improvement notices to Project Temple Productions in April 2026, requiring the company to address the breaches. Deadline reports that the required action was taken and the company complied with the relevant regulations within a month. Isocyanates used in some paints can cause occupational asthma, with HSE guidance requiring appropriate protective equipment and controls when the substances are sprayed.
Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics announced the development of the live-action Tomb Raider television series in May 2024. Principal photography began in January 2026. Sophie Turner stars as Lara Croft, a British archaeologist and adventurer. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson. The series is based on the Tomb Raider video game franchise.
The production is a joint venture between Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics. Executive producers include Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins for Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson for Story Kitchen, and Michael Scheel for Legendary Television.
