CRYSTAL DYNAMICS SHARES NEW DETAILS ABOUT THE SOCIETY OF RAIDERS

Crystal Dynamics has published additional information about the Society of Raiders, a fictional organisation connected to the Tomb Raider universe. According to the studio, the Society of Raiders originated in London during the early 19th century. It was established to bring order to the pursuit of artefacts, with rules intended to keep rivals alive long enough to profit while protecting members' anonymity.

Crystal Dynamics states that the Society has operated in secret for almost two centuries. Rather than having a formal hierarchy, it is described as a network of Raiders, Collectors and others who conduct business with them. Members operate under a shared code, using contracts, safe havens and a form of currency known as Society Marks.

The studio says that individuals join the Society for a range of reasons, including the pursuit of truth, power, prestige or discovery. It adds that those who break the Society's rules face exile, while those who follow its code build their reputation within the organisation.

Crystal Dynamics also states that many individuals who have crossed paths with Lara Croft have connections to the Society of Raiders, whether they acknowledge those ties or not.
