DERBY MUSEUMS TO MARK 30 YEARS OF TOMB RAIDER WITH NEW EXHIBITION

Derby Museums will present a new exhibition marking 30 years since Derby-based games studio Core Design created the Tomb Raider series and its main character, Lara Croft. The exhibition, Lara Croft 30 Years On, From Derby to Global Icon, will be held at Pickford's House, 41 Friar Gate, Derby, from 24 July to 28 November 2026. Admission is free. The exhibition is suitable for all.
The exhibition has been co-curated with collector Luke Earle and will include original Tomb Raider development materials loaned by former Core Design developers, alongside memorabilia and collectables from private collections. Visitors will also be able to take part in interactive activities, with themed cosplay days taking place during the exhibition.
Since her debut in 1996, Lara Croft has evolved from a sharply polygonal adventurer into a globally recognised cultural icon, maintaining her status as gaming's most celebrated heroine. The series has expanded beyond video games to include feature films, comic books, novels and other media.
