PLAYSTATION BLOG PUBLISHES TOMB RAIDER LEGACY OF HANDS-ON REPORT
[ 11 June 2026 ]
The official PlayStation Blog has published a hands-on preview of Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, an upcoming reimagining of the original Tomb Raider video game released in 1996. The review took place at Summer Game Fest 2026 and lasted approximately one hour. It describes how developers Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog are incorporating elements from the original game and its first remake, Tomb Raider Anniversary, into a modern context, and includes new assets showcasing the changes.
Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis returns to Lara Croft's first adventure with updated visuals, revised gameplay systems, and additional narrative content. The project maintains the structure and setting of the original game while introducing new elements intended to support the updated presentation. It is being developed by Flying Wild Hog in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics and uses Unreal Engine 5.
The gameplay centres on exploration across multiple locations, traversal of hazardous environments, and environmental puzzle-solving. The narrative follows Lara Croft as she searches for fragments of the Scion, an artefact linked to significant power within the Tomb Raider series. The game is planned for release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
