ASTONISHING TRAVELS FOLLOWS LARA CROFT TO ST. FRANCIS' FOLLY IN GREECE
[ 17 September 2026 ]
The official Tomb Raider website has published a new Astonishing Travels entry as part of the promotion for Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis. Dated 17 September 2026, the latest fictional Field Notes article follows the publication's investigation into Lara Croft's movements after Peru, tracing her journey through San Francisco and onwards to Greece.
The article focuses on St. Francis' Folly, a restricted historical site whose surviving complex is identified as a Byzantine monastery. Astonishing Travels connects Croft to the area after a group believed to be private security contractors travelled in the same general direction shortly before her arrival. A backpacker later reported hearing multiple apparent explosions near the monastery and seeing plumes above the surrounding hills, while a subsequent police inspection found signs of recent human activity near one of the approaches.
The fictional investigation also examines theories concerning the history of St. Francis' Folly. Fragmentary accounts from around the middle of the fifth century BCE describe an unidentified foreigner associated with influential Athenians and a secret construction project somewhere beyond the city. The same body of accounts claims that builders encountered older structures during the project, although the article acknowledges that there is no direct evidence connecting these records with St. Francis' Folly.
The Greece entry continues several threads introduced in the earlier Peru feature, including Jacqueline Natla, Carlos remaining unaccounted for and unidentified personnel whose movements overlap with Croft's journey. Only around a third of the contractor group were later seen leaving through the same airfield, with the others unaccounted for. The departing group's charter was bound for Egypt, and Croft subsequently followed, establishing the setting for a future Astonishing Travels investigation.
The full Greece Field Notes entry is available on the official Tomb Raider website.
