BAFTA GAMES IN CONCERT TO OPEN TOMORROW AT LONDON'S ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL

BAFTA Games in Concert, initially unveiled in September as a one-night London engagement, will open tomorrow evening, Saturday, 31 January 2026, at the Royal Festival Hall, London, marking the first performance of what has since been confirmed as a nationwide tour. The concert series celebrates two decades of BAFTA-nominated and award-winning video game music and reflects the growing recognition of game scores within the wider cultural and orchestral landscape.

Under the direction of American composer Austin Wintory, the BBC Concert Orchestra will present a programme drawn from a wide range of celebrated titles, including Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Baldur's Gate 3, Hitman Contracts, Assassin's Creed, Cuphead, Journey, Helldivers 2, Far Cry 4 and Fallout 4, with several works newly added since the initial announcement.

Among the highlights of the opening concert is Tomb Raider Legend, composed by Troels Brun Folmann, whose score has earned longstanding recognition within game music and soundtrack circles but has rarely been heard in an orchestral concert setting. Its performance offers audiences the opportunity to experience its thematic and textural detail with a clarity not always apparent during gameplay.

Following the London premiere, the concert series will travel to The Glasshouse, Gateshead, and Bristol Beacon in May, before continuing in June to Usher Hall, Edinburgh; the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow; Symphony Hall, Birmingham; and Aviva Studios, Manchester.
