SOPHIE TURNER PROMISES A MORE CAPABLE LARA CROFT IN UPCOMING SERIES
[ 22 January 2026 ]
British actress Sophie Turner has stated, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, that her portrayal of Lara Croft will focus on the character's motivations and capabilities rather than her physical appearance, emphasising Croft's confidence, strength, and unapologetic competence.
"It's about her and her story and what drives her, rather than what so many people also love about her, which is how hot she is in the games and the movies," Turner says. "But I really want to show the other side. She's so unashamedly capable. She is not a woman who hides her strengths at all," Turner told the Los Angeles Times.
Production on the live-action Tomb Raider television series from Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics is now underway. Sophie Turner will lead an ensemble cast that also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, and Bill Paterson in the latest screen adaptation of the long-running video game franchise.
Executive production responsibilities are shared by Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics, alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins for Wells Street Films. Additional executive producers include Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson for Story Kitchen, as well as Michael Scheel and Legendary Television.
