FIRST LOOK AT SOPHIE TURNER AS LARA CROFT IN LIVE-ACTION TOMB RAIDER SERIES

Crystal Dynamics, the developer of Tomb Raider, has released the first official image of Sophie Turner portraying British adventurer Lara Croft in Amazon MGM's forthcoming live-action Tomb Raider series. Filming is scheduled to commence this month in the United Kingdom. The image was shared on the official Tomb Raider X page.

"Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters," said co-showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge, via the official Amazon website. "I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!"

Plans for a live-action Tomb Raider television series were announced by Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics in May 2024. Sophie Turner will lead the production, with Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson joining her as part of an ensemble cast in the latest screen adaptation of the long-running video-game franchise.

The series is executive produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics, alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Films. Additional executive producers include Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson through Story Kitchen, as well as Michael Scheel and Legendary Television.
