TOMB RAIDER SOCIAL UPDATED TO MASTODON 4.5.4
[ 9 January 2026 ]
Tomb Raider Social has been updated to Mastodon version 4.5.4, a maintenance release focused on strengthening security and improving reliability across the platform. The update addresses two security vulnerabilities identified via GitHub Security Advisories, including a fix for a server-side request forgery (SSRF) protection bypass and a missing ownership check in the severed relationships controller. It also refines HTTP Signature handling by returning a 503 (Service Unavailable) response when a remote actor cannot be temporarily retrieved, more accurately reflecting transient failures in federated communication.
Alongside these changes, the release delivers a broad set of bug fixes aimed at improving content rendering, usability and administrative accuracy. Custom emojis now display correctly across profile fields, content warnings and notifications, while several issues affecting quotes, hashtags, mentions and asset loading have been resolved. The update also corrects interface errors in specific environments, such as the Tor Browser, and ensures default administrative roles include the appropriate permissions, contributing to a smoother and more consistent experience for both users and administrators.
Tomb Raider Social is built on Mastodon, a decentralised, open-source platform that lets users run independent servers with their own rules and communities. Designed for fans of the Tomb Raider series, it serves as a hub for discussion, creativity, and content sharing. Unlike conventional social media, Mastodon prioritises user autonomy, privacy, and community moderation, offering a chronological, ad-free experience without algorithmic interference.
