TOMB RAIDER REBOOT HEADED TO ANDROID AND IOS WITH FULL MOBILE OPTIMISATION
[ 18 December 2025 ]
Tomb Raider on Android and iOS, based on the original Steam release, will not include TressFX, the advanced hair simulation technology found in some PC versions, and has been highly optimised, Feral Interactive confirmed during a recent AMA. The opening salvo of the Survivor Trilogy is scheduled for release in February 2026.
According to Feral, TressFX has a significant impact on performance, often halving the frame rate. By omitting it, the developers were able to enhance other visual settings while staying within the thermal and performance limits of mobile devices. The game has been described as highly optimised for both Android and iOS, aiming to deliver a smooth and visually faithful experience consistent with the original Steam release.
The mobile release will include the full suite of weapons and skills to empower Lara's quest on the island of Yamatai, as well as 12 DLC packs offering additional upgrades, outfits, and a bonus Challenge Tomb at no extra cost. Additionally, a fully customisable touchscreen interface has been developed, allowing players to seamlessly combine puzzle-solving with intense combat.
Gamepad support is included, alongside keyboard and mouse support on iPadOS and Android, with gyroscopic motion aiming available on supported devices. With AAA visuals, strong performance, and optimisation presets that allow players to prioritise either performance or graphical fidelity, Tomb Raider will be the first fully fledged modern Tomb Raider console game on mobile.
