SIGOURNEY WEAVER REPORTEDLY IN TALKS FOR LIVE-ACTION TOMB RAIDER SERIES

Sigourney Weaver is reportedly in discussions to join the cast of Amazon MGM's live-action Tomb Raider series, according to a report by entertainment magazine Deadline Hollywood. The star of Alien and Avatar 'is in talks' for an as-yet unknown role. English actress Sophie Turner has been cast in the title role of Tomb Raider as the British adventurer and archaeologist Lara Croft.

In May 2024, Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics announced their plans to develop a live-action Tomb Raider series. The project is executive produced by Crystal Dynamics, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Productions; Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson through Story Kitchen; alongside Michael Scheel and Legendary Television.

Since its creation by Core Design, the Tomb Raider franchise has grown substantially, encompassing eleven main video games, numerous spin-off titles, three major film adaptations starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, comic books, and a range of promotional tie-ins.
