STORY KITCHEN AND AMAZON MGM TO INTERCONNECT THE TOMB RAIDER FRANCHISE
[ 3 December 2025 ]
Story Kitchen and Amazon MGM Studios are set to reimagine the Tomb Raider franchise on a massive scale, 'interconnecting a new live-action television series and video games into a unified storytelling universe,' Story Kitchen has confirmed. Sophie Turner will assume the role of Lara Croft, with filming scheduled to begin in January 2026.
The live-action Tomb Raider series was announced by Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics in May 2024. It is executive produced by Crystal Dynamics, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson through Story Kitchen, Michael Scheel, and Legendary Television.
Originally created by Core Design, Tomb Raider introduced audiences to the British archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft, establishing a franchise that has since expanded to encompass eleven principal video games, numerous spin-off titles, three major film adaptations starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, comic books, and various promotional collaborations.
The video game series is currently under the aegis of Crystal Dynamics, who is developing the next Tomb Raider title powered by Unreal Engine 5, with Amazon Games providing global publishing support.
