TOMB RAIDER II MARKS TWENTY-EIGHT YEAR ANNIVERSARY
[ 21 November 2025 ]
Arguably the finest title in the series, Tomb Raider II: Starring Lara Croft marks the twenty-eighth anniversary of its release on Windows and PlayStation. Developed by Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive in November 1997, Tomb Raider II follows Lara Croft as she travels the globe in search of a magical artefact, the Dagger of Xian, reputed to grant its possessor the power of a fire-breathing dragon. The Fiamma Nera, led by Marco Bartoli, is also in pursuit of the artefact and will stop at nothing to obtain it.
This second instalment of Tomb Raider retains the charm and atmosphere of the original, while introducing several new features. Lara encounters a greater number of enemies than in the first game, resulting in action-packed and often demanding combat sequences. A new model for Lara Croft has been introduced, alongside improved graphics, and a significantly expanded arsenal.
Unlike the original Tomb Raider, this instalment features a higher proportion of human adversaries. Nevertheless, non-human threats remain abundant, including animated statues, dangerous underwater creatures, birds, bats, and spiders. The T-Rex also makes a dramatic return, though encountering this classic enemy may require considerable skill.
Take a trip down memory lane and enjoy a plethora of assets showcasing Lara Croft in Tomb Raider II, bolstered by content released as part of Tomb Raider 25, a celebration of 25 years of Lara Croft and Tomb Raider.
