TOMB RAIDER SOCIAL UPDATED TO MASTODON 4.4.0 (4.4.1)
[ 14 July 2025 ]
Tomb Raider Social has been upgraded to Mastodon version 4.4.0 (4.4.1), in line with the official release of the latest iteration of the decentralised social media platform. This update delivers a range of functional and interface enhancements for both users and server administrators. Notable improvements include expanded options for profile customisation, streamlined media handling, and more intuitive list management. Additionally, the onboarding process and mobile navigation have been refined to offer a more cohesive and accessible user experience.
Users can now feature hashtags and recommended profiles directly on their profile pages, as well as pin multiple posts within a single carousel, reducing clutter. A new indicator shows when mutual connections exist with another user, and followers can be discreetly removed without resorting to blocking. List creation and editing has been simplified, offering greater control over how users curate their timelines.
The platform's media tools have also seen notable upgrades. The audio player has been redesigned with clearer controls and expanded keyboard shortcuts. Image interaction has been improved with more intuitive zoom and navigation gestures. In line with Mastodon's emphasis on accessibility, users will now receive reminders to include alt text for media posts, alongside guidance on writing effective descriptions.
While users will begin seeing quote posts from compatible Fediverse platforms with this release, the ability to create quote posts on Mastodon itself will be reserved for version 4.5. This phased implementation ensures backward compatibility and consistent user experience across the network's decentralised infrastructure.
Tomb Raider Social is powered by Mastodon, a decentralised social media platform that operates on an open-source model, allowing users to create and manage their own servers, or "instances," with varying rules and themes. Unlike traditional platforms, Mastodon emphasises user control, privacy, and community governance, offering chronological, ad-free, and non-algorithmic user feeds.
