TOMB RAIDER REBOOT SURPASSES 10M COPIES SOLD ON STEAM

The 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, which marked the beginning of what would later become known as the Survivor Trilogy, has surpassed an estimated 10 million copies sold on the Steam platform. According to data compiled by VG Insights, the title has generated approximately $110.7 million in gross revenue on Steam alone.

By comparison, the trilogy's second entry, Rise of the Tomb Raider, has recorded estimated sales of 4.7 million units on the same platform, while the final instalment, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, has reportedly sold 1.3 million copies. These figures highlight the relative commercial success of the 2013 reboot, despite all three titles receiving broadly similar levels of critical reception at the time of their respective releases.

VG Insights produces its estimates using a combination of publicly available data, including Steam user statistics, pricing trends, and player engagement metrics. The company's methodology does not account for sales through other digital storefronts or physical distribution, and as such, total sales across all platforms are likely to be substantially higher.

As a franchise, Tomb Raider has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide since its debut in 1996, making it one of the most enduring and recognisable series in the video games industry.
