FORMER TOMB RAIDER ROLLER COASTER RIDE FACES CLOSURE

Canada's Wonderland has announced the permanent closure of its Time Warp roller coaster, formerly Tomb Raider: The Ride, according to a report by the Toronto Sun. A spokesperson for the amusement park in Vaughan stated that the ride 'is being retired and will be removed before the park opens in May.'

Tomb Raider: The Ride was inspired by the wildly popular Paramount Pictures Hollywood blockbuster films Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, starring Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie. Actual film props from the iconic landscapes of the motion pictures influenced the design and thematic concepts of the ride.

Canada's only flying coaster at the time, Tomb Raider: The Ride was later renamed Time Warp after Cedar Fair removed Paramount themes from its parks, including Kings Island and Kings Dominion.
