ASPYR MEDIA ON REMASTERING THE ICONIC TOMB RAIDER SERIES
[ 12 February 2025 ]
An interview published by VG247 with Jordon Reese, Product Manager at Aspyr, has offered insight into the company's approach to remastering the iconic Tomb Raider series ahead of the release of Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered on Friday.
Reese told VG247 that their goal has always been to deliver the complete classic Tomb Raider experience, spanning all six original Core Design games. The success of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered strengthened their commitment to this vision, reaffirming their dedication to preserving the essence of the beloved franchise while introducing updates to appeal to both veteran and new players alike.
Reese acknowledged the internal pressure Aspyr feels, driven by the desire to meet the expectations of long-time fans and modern gamers. He explained that their focus is on retaining the original look and feel of the games while enhancing the graphics and functionality. This delicate balance allows the remasters to stay true to their roots while offering something fresh and exciting for today's audience.
"We work closely with Crystal Dynamics to make sure we're keeping true to the original vision of the game while also adding enhancements where we can. It's of the utmost importance to maintain the visual tone and style of these original classics so working with the IP holder helps make sure we're hitting that mark." Reese told VG247.
