Entertainment magazine Variety has named Tasha Huo and Megan McDonnell as screenwriters to watch in 2023. Tasha Huo is serving as showrunner on Tomb Raider The Legend of Lara Croft and Megan McDonnell is working on a Tomb Raider project for Amazon.
Tomb Raider The Legend of Lara Croft is being produced by Netflix and Legendary. Actress Hayley Atwell will voice British archaeologist Lara Croft with Earl Baylon and Allen Maldonado onboard as Jonah Maiava and Zip. The show is set after the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider and will stream exclusively on Netflix in 2024.
A new Amazon-fronted Tomb Raider film and TV show written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge is reportedly planned following a massive rights deal for the Lara Croft-helmed franchise between Dmitri M. Johnson's dj2 Entertainment and Amazon, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Amazon Games is also publishing a new Tomb Raider video-game, developed by Crystal Dynamics and built on Unreal Engine 5. The as-yet-untitled new Tomb Raider game is a single-player, narrative-driven adventure that continues Lara Croft's story in the Tomb Raider series.
