EMBRACER GROUP PUBLISHES ANNUAL REPORT 2021-22
[ 8 July 2022 ]
Embracer Group has published their annual report for the financial year 2021/2022. A digital and brief version of the report, including acquisition data, asset inventory, milestones and projections, is available on the company's official website. Highlights from the annual report include:
"During the financial year, Embracer Group has continued its ambitious merger and acquisition agenda and entered a strategic chapter on its journey, following the transformative acquisitions of Asmodee and Dark Horse, plus the addition of 31 bolt-on acquisitions to strengthen existing operative groups and its IP portfolio, development and publishing capabilities."
"Net sales for the financial year 21/22 increased by 89% from last year to SEK 17,036.7 million whereof net sales games amounted to 13,935. Operational EBIT increased by 54% to SEK 4,416.3 million (2,870.8) corresponding to an Operational EBIT margin of 26% (32%)."
"Embracer Group continued its ambitious merger and acquisition agenda during the year, expanding the group from 6 to 10 operative groups, while investing a record SEK 1,987 million in game development, laying the foundation for growing revenues from future releases."
Lars Wingefors, Founder and CEO, says: "The strategy to build a diverse and decentralized group that stands on many revenue streams took several important steps. Sales and profits grew significantly, and we welcomed many new companies to the Embracer family through strategic, transformative acquisitions of Easybrain, Gearbox, Asmodee and Dark Horse forming four new, separate operative groups within Embracer Group."
Embracer Group has agreed to acquire Eidos, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix Montreal and a catalogue of IPs including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain and more than 50 back-catalogue games from Square Enix Holdings Ltd. The transaction is subject to various regulatory and other external approvals and is expected to close during the second quarter of Embracer's financial year 22/23 (July-September 2022).
