AMAZON CLOSES ON TOMB RAIDER FILM STUDIO MGM

Amazon has closed on the acquisition of MGM, the motion picture studio behind James Bond and Tomb Raider, and "doesn't anticipate changes in release dates or on projects that are in progress." The deal, valued at 8.5 billion USD, will "complement Prime Video and Amazon Studios' work in delivering a diverse offering of entertainment choices to customers," Deadline reports.

Misha Green, executive producer of supernatural series Lovecraft Country on HBO, has been hired by MGM to write and direct the rebooted Tomb Raider motion picture sequel with Alicia Vikander onboard to reprise her role as Lara Croft.
