On this day twenty years ago
Taco Bell and Paramount Pictures joined forces to promote
Lara Croft Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie. Taco
Bell offered an in-store promotion featuring game pieces
obtained by purchasing a Grilled Stuft Burrito.
There were two components to the
game, instant win and match and win. The instant win
game pieces won food items and Tomb Raider merchandise
and match and win won a cash prize or an archaeological
adventure to historical sites in Egypt and Mexico.
The promotion was supported by
two TV commercials and was available in restaurants
across the United States, Guam and Puerto Rico. Lara
Croft Tomb Raider released later that month on 15 June,
2001.
