CORE DESIGN FOUNDER SET TO RECEIVE
HONORARY DEGREE

Chris Shrigley, one of the founders
of British studio Core Design, will receive an honorary
degree from the University of Derby. According to Derby
Telegraph, Chris will be recognised for his international
success and its impact on the gaming industry. Chris
Shrigley founded Core Design in 1988 alongside Andy
Green, Rob Toone, Terry Lloyd, Simon Phipps, Dave Pridmore,
Jeremy Heath-Smith, Kevin Norburn and Greg Holmes.
Core Design produced a string
of hit video-games including Rick Dangerous, Thunderhawk,
Project Eden and Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider became one
of the most successful video-game franchises of all
time with total sales of 74 million units to date.
Tomb Raider, starring British
aristocrat Lara Croft, is now under the aegis of Eidos
Montreal and Crystal Dynamics.
