GK Films have announced they will partner with MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) to produce a new Tomb Raider film. Graham King took to Twitter to announce the collaboration, having secured the film rights from Square Enix in 2011. MGM also commented on the collaboration.

"Graham is one of the premier producers in this industry and I am delighted to be working with him on this exciting franchise," MGM CEO Gary Barber said in a statement. "We look forward to developing more projects together in the future."

Two previous films based on the video-game franchise starred Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie and performed well at the box office. Lara Croft Tomb Raider raked in $274 million worldwide and The Cradle of Life tallied up $156 million. Angelina Jolie is not expected to reprise her role as Lara Croft.
