EIDOS CONFIRMS NEW TAKEOVER OFFER

Eidos has confirmed an approach my an unnamed bidder but emphasises discussions are at an early stage. Possible suitors include Warner Bros. - who already own a sizeable stake in the British publisher - and Ubisoft.

"The Board can announce that it has received a preliminary approach which may or may not lead to an offer being made for the Company. Eidos emphasises that discussions are at a very early stage and that there can be no assurance that an offer will be forthcoming."

Eidos' share price rose 34% on the back of the announcement, closing at 12.00.
