Marketing Week reports publisher Eidos has ear-marked £1 million for a vociferous advertising campaign "covering TV, print, outdoor and online" mediums to promote the arrival of Tomb Raider Underworld, vying for the Christmas top spot in the video-games charts. According to Eidos UK marketing manager Jon Brooke: "We have had large launches before but this is certainly the biggest for eight years."

Tomb Raider Underworld is the first Tomb Raider game designed to reflect the physical athleticism and real-world skills required of a world-class adventurer. With an all-new engine built specifically to exploit the capabilities of the latest game consoles, Tomb Raider Underworld depicts Lara as we have never seen her before with movements and skills reminiscent of a highly skilled gymnast.

UK gymnast Alison Carroll was recently anointed the official 2008 live Lara Croft model. The 23-year-old Londoner will travel the globe performing stunts and assuming the role of her digital counterpart - minus bloodshed.

Tomb Raider Underworld is scheduled to release in Europe on November 21 2008 and across North America on November 18, 2008.
