Final
cut for Elektra's upcoming Tomb Raider movie soundtrack
follows the official press release below:
Elektra
Entertainment Group and Paramount Pictures are
proud to announce the upcoming release of the
soundtrack album of the summer, Music From The
Motion Picture "Tomb Raider," scheduled to hit
stores June 5, 2001. The disc precedes the June
15, 2001 release of the highly anticipated epic
action-adventure, "Tomb Raider," starring Academy
Award¨-winning actress Angelina Jolie. This live
action feature is directed by Simon West and inspired
by the most successful interactive video game
character in history - Lara Croft (Jolie). Beautiful
and brainy, Lara is the heroine of Eidos Interactive's
phenomenally successful "Tomb Raider" game series.
It is one woman's fearless quest criss-crossing
the globe, in an amazing attempt to save the world
in this summer's most highly anticipated movie.
The Elektra
soundtrack, brilliantly assembled by music supervisor
Peter Afterman and Elektra Vice-President Soundtracks
/ A & R, John Kirkpatrick, explodes with the same
intensity and excitement with a slew of superstar
artists eager to contribute to the "Tomb Raider"
phenomenon, including U2, nine inch nails, Missy
"Misdemeanor" Elliott with Nelly Furtado, OutKast,
Moby, Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers, among
others. U2 kicks off the star-studded collection
with the first single, Tomb Raider Mix of "Elevation,"
available exclusively on this soundtrack. The
band recently shot a video for the song, directed
by Joseph Khan, who has directed videos for Destiny's
Child and Wu Tang Clan, among others, and it is
to feature a set that would wow even the most
ardent "Tomb Raider" fans. The film and soundtrack
album also feature the song 'Deep,' by Grammy
Award-winner Trent Reznor/nine inch nails. Expected
to reach radio stations in mid-May, the track
will be the second single off of the soundtrack.
