Eidos has dispatched a scorching new Xbox 360 screenshot showcasing the hidden depths of Tomb Raider Underworld. Now under the aegis of Crystal Dynamics, Tomb Raider Underworld is being developed for six major platforms including Sony Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. The game is expected to release in December 2008.

Tomb Raider Underworld pits Lara Croft in Southern Mexico where she must unravel the mystery surrounding the five missing days of the Mayan calendar, an apocalyptic time when the portals between the mortal realm and the Underworld dissolve, allowing ill-intending deities to causing disaster and mayhem.

The game courts a slew of new features including a brand new Next-Gen engine which uses a hybrid lighting model to combine dynamic lights with carefully created light maps, making Lara's world look stunning, alive and immersive.

Olympic gymnast Heidi Moneymaker is providing the motion capture for a more fluidic Lara Croft, with much of the animations being crafted into Tomb Raider Underworld by hand. Follow the below referenced hyperlink to collect the spoils.
